How To Use Coffee For Oily Skin (12 Easy Ways)

Are you someone who cannot miss their morning cup of coffee? Me too.

On a busy day to unwind, coffee is what I need.

It helps in boosting my metabolism and energy.

But, did you know that coffee works wonders for your skin as well? Have you ever tried?

While a cup of coffee can provide the relaxation you want, it can also enhance the skin texture when applied topically in the form of a mask or scrub.

In this post, we will look at some of the ways to use coffee for oily skin.

Is Coffee Good For Oily Skin?

Yes, coffee is good for oily skin. Let’s see why –

  • The antioxidant and antibacterial properties of coffee help to fight the free radicals present in the pores of our skin. By getting rid of the free radicals, coffee also helps in increasing the elasticity of the skin.
  • Acne-prone skin can be benefited from coffee because of its anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Coffee reduces the appearance of blemishes and dark spots, inflammation, and redness of the skin.
  • Coffee is not hard on the skin. You can use it as a natural exfoliant to get rid of dead skin cells, dirt, and dust from the clogged pores.

Now that we know coffee is good for oily skin, let’s see how to use coffee for oily skin.

How To Use Coffee For Oily Skin?

A great way to use coffee for oily skin is by using it as a face mask.

Simply mix the grounds (leftover from your morning cup of joe!) with some almond or olive oil and any other parts you like, such as milk powder, oatmeal paste, honey, etc.

Simply apply the mask to your face/neck and leave it there for 20 minutes before removing and washing off.

You should see an instant difference- the oils will act as an emulsifier that traps in excess sebum!

Coffee grounds, when wet with water, make a cleansing scrub that can be applied to your face.

Start by wetting the coffee grounds in water and rubbing them together to create a paste.

If it seems too dry, add some moisture, and if you really want an exfoliating effect, add sugar or salt as well.

Try this homemade scrub on your chin and jawline for 5-7 minutes or so before rinsing off with warm water – ideally right after you hop out of the shower!

Spend two to three days using this regime every day until you notice any changes in oily skin or other blemishes. Then continue once every two days for maintenance purposes.

I find that taking coffee and mixing it in a face wash or lotion is great for my oily skin.

It exfoliates, tones and tightens pores, and reduces shine!

Coffee also helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles on your forehead too!

I follow up with a moisturizer to seal everything in.

Can I Apply Coffee On Face Daily?

Yes, it’s been said that caffeine can contribute to collagen production. Yes, coffee is acidic; however, many people who have sensitive skin find it less irritating than certain other common beverages like sodas and alcohol. So it could be a good choice for those with sensitive skin or those trying to avoid too much acidity in their diet.

Can Coffee Lighten Skin?

It has been claimed the drinking two cups of black coffee per day will make your skin tone fairer than ever before with its anti-inflammatory properties targeting breakouts and reducing redness near acne – not to mention stimulating blood circulation to give you a refreshed look.

Is Coffee Good For Pimples?

Coffee is thought to be good for pimples because caffeine is thought to constrict blood vessels, which reduces inflammation and redness in the skin. That said, I wouldn’t put much weight into this just yet. The studies on coffee consumption are relatively new, so we don’t know what the long-term impact might be.

Can Coffee Treat Acne?

Yes, it can! While the primary benefit of drinking coffee is to feel more alert and awake, studies have found that even decaf has benefits for those with moderate to severe acne. The addition of antioxidants in decaf coffee could help to improve skin clarity and reduce free radicals within the body – both key ingredients in fighting acne.

Can I Leave Coffee On My Face Overnight?

Coffee is full of antioxidants and many other wonderful properties that are beneficial to your skin, but it’s important not to overdo anything. Coffee isn’t a moisturizer so one night won’t do much damage, but putting it on your skin every day or two might be counterproductive.

To keep your skin healthy use a moisturizer as the last step in your nighttime routine and try adding a few drops of coconut oil under the eyes before bed for added hydration support. If you really need coffee on your face, find another way to apply it without leaving it overnight!
